Built on craft, light, and care.

Otlo is an international architecture studio of 120 designers, engineers, and researchers. We work across homes, cultural buildings, and city districts, with one habit in common: we slow down at the start so we can build with confidence at the end.

Architecture, interiors, masterplanning, and landscape.

An architecture studio rooted in precision and emotion. We design with a deep understanding of site, light, and the lives that unfold inside, shaping places that feel calm, intuitive, and quietly exact.

Two architects, one room, and a belief that buildings should be earned.

Otlo began in 2009 in a rented room above a bicycle shop in Copenhagen. Vishwa Kumar and Srushti Kumari had met a few years earlier on the same competition entry, and they kept returning to one question: what would it take to design buildings that people still love in fifty years?

Their answer was to slow down at the start. They spent weeks on site before drawing a line, built models before renders, and argued over a single threshold until it felt inevitable. Early clients were patient, and the first completed projects, a library, a courtyard house, and a small pavilion, became the studio’s calling card.

Seventeen years on, the studio has four offices and 120 people, but the habits have not changed. Every project still starts with listening, every drawing is still made by hand first, and every model on the table is open to critique. The room above the bicycle shop is long gone. The belief that buildings should be earned, not just delivered, is still the first thing new colleagues hear.

Four beliefs shape every drawing we make.

01

Craft over speed

We would rather draw it twice than build it wrong once. Time spent early is the cheapest investment in a building.

02

Openness

Every model on the table is open to critique. A junior designer’s sketch gets the same attention as a partner’s.

03

Curiosity

We study how people actually live in our buildings, and carry what we learn into the next project.

04

Balance

Long hours are a failure of planning, not a badge of honor. Good work needs rested, curious people.
